Student Outreach Training and Work Opportunities

To be successful, many of our AWF ministries need help from youth and young adults. There are various opportunities throughout the year to serve in mission while growing closer to Christ. Below are several opportunities that we encourage you to share with youth and young adults in your local church.

LeadUp Training Opportunity for High School Students Sponsored by Alabama Rural Ministry

To youth directors with high school students: Do you have students who want to take their passion for mission and service to the next level. Help them influence to make lasting change-Lead Up! LeadUP is designed for high school students who want to take their passion for extending Christ’s love in practical ways and translate it into action. Students learn the process of turning an idea into action and launch into their own ministry plan. (Youth directors do not need to attend ). The cost is $75.

Date: March 27-29   St. Mark UMC Anniston, AL Deadline March 17th.

QuadW Missional Residency Opportunity for Montgomery Area Young Adults.

August 2020 – May 2021.  Housing and Stipend Included

The goal of QuadW Missional Skunkworks is to equip young adults to lead disciple-making movements. The primary focus will be engaging others in a way that nurtures spiritual growth and the multiplication of disciples. Skunkworks residents will receive needed training and coaching, live in Christian community with their local team, and serve in partnership with Metropolitan UMC led by Rev. Richard Williams and River City UMC led by Rev. Justin Todd.

A "skunkworks" is essentially an R&D effort where people of diverse backgrounds work together to achieve a critically needed breakthrough. We will function as an R&D Department for the body of Christ, working together to nurture disciple-making movements critical to the Church's faithfulness. As entrepreneurs, we value innovation and risk-taking. We celebrate learning from both successes and failures - both can increase our capacity to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Young adults aged 18 to 25 are encouraged to apply. Housing and a monthly stipend of $200 are included. The time commitment is ten hours per week. Exact dates to be determined but will coincide with fall semester of 2020 through spring semester 2021. To find out more, please visit

Blue Lake Camps Seeks Summer Staff

Blue Lake Camp is hiring summer staff. Please help them spread the word. They are looking for college-age adults who can commit 10 weeks of their summer to living at and working for Blue Lake. This is best for individuals who are passionate, excited, and willing to get their hands dirty. An ideal summer counselor is someone who can roll with the punches of summer camp (no two days are the same!) and is a team player. Contact Blue Lake here.
