Rev. James E. Savage (retired), 87, passed away Oct. 7, 2010.
He and his wife, Audrey, spent their retirement years in Mexico Beach and Panama City, Fla.
James was a veteran of World War II, proudly serving in the U.S. Navy. He also served 30 years as a minister in the Alabama-West Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church. After retirement, he served six years as visitation minister at First United Methodist Church in Panama City.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Audrey; daughter, Dr. Katherine Henry of Dallas, Texas; two sons, James R. Savage and wife, Kathy, of Panama City and Barry W. Savage and wife, Kathryn, of Austin, Texas; two granddaughters, Jessica and Chelsea; and brother, Robert E. Savage of Marietta, Ga.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at the Garden of Memories with the Rev. David Warren officiating. Interment followed. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Friends of Sims, Chester Sims State Nursing Home, 4419 Tram Road, Springfield, FL 32404.
