The Academy for Congregational Excellence (ACE)
invites clergy to participate in a unique cohort opportunity this fall. Body and Soul
is a 12-week group covenant experience focused upon a holistic approach to spiritual, emotional, relational and physical flourishing. Beginning the first week of September until the week before Thanksgiving, six Body and Soul
groups will be launched at various locations throughout the Alabama-West Florida Conference.
An orientation session for Body and Soul in the Pensacola area and Mobile area will be held Friday, August 21. The Pensacola District will host their orientation session at The Center for Clergy Care and Education, 900 Garden Gate Circle, Pensacola, FL, 32504 beginning at 9:00 a.m. The Mobile District will host their orientation session at Dauphin Way UMC beginning at 2 pm.
An orientation session for Body and Soul
in the Dothan area
will be held Tuesday,August 25
, at 9:00 a.m. The location is Counseling Services of Dothan, 1450 Ross Clark Circle, Suite 3, Dothan.
Through Body and Soul
, clergy participants will:
- Participate in physical training (aerobics, Christ-centered yoga, flexibility exercises) as a group with a trainer twice weekly;
- Engage in a weekly online group discussion; and
- Meet as a cohort once or twice monthly for three months with a group facilitator to engage in dialogue related to spiritual formation, work-life balance, relational dynamics, etc.
A book or group curriculum will be used by the group.
The cost for Body and Soul
is $700.00 per participant. Clergy who successfully complete the 12-week experience will be reimbursed $350 by ACE.
