HARAMBE in Swahili means ‘coming together.’ HARAMBE is also a community-based fundraising method in Tanzania. Wesley College, a United Methodist-affiliated institution, is hosting a Harambe in Spring 2021. Your church is invited to find out more about this opportunity through an informational Zoom call in January, led by Reverend Eric Soard. In Spring 2021, HARAMBE will connect fundraising efforts in the US with fundraising efforts in Tanzania, led there by staff, board members, and local supporters. In a season when international travel will still be limited, HARAMBE promises to transport all ages through stories, videos, and interactive Zoom experiences. Churches who choose to participate will receive ready-to-use resources, making this an easy way to focus on a global mission, live out our call to stewardship, and expand impact. HARAMBE will culminate with a virtual giving day in late April. Logging in from around the United States, participants will meet staff and students in Tanzania and celebrate progress towards our fundraising goal. Church leaders who would like to find out more about participating are invited to sign up to attend a Zoom meeting at one of the following times: • Tuesday, January 26th at 7 pm CST • Thursday, January 28th at 12 noon CST • Friday, January 29th at 10 am CST • Saturday, January 30th at 10 am CST Links for the sign up are in the attached documents. The meetings will be informational, with no commitment required. Pastors, missions staff, and lay leaders are all welcome.
