Join us for a discussion on "Issues of Racial and Economic Justice". Gabrielle Daniels and Evan Milligan, both from the Equal Justice Initiative
, will give a presentation focusing on the historical legacy of racial and economic injustice in our nation and its influence on working towards trust, equity, and justice within our communities today. Rev. John Brooks, Director of Multicultural Ministries of the Alabama-West Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church, will also speak to the response of the Church to this issue.
The conversation will weave together the continuity between prior eras of racial and economic injustices and contemporary issues in various spheres of our society, from the criminal justice system to public education, health care, and civil engagement. The discussion will also speak to what it means for us as Christians to reckon with this legacy and move towards faithful service.
This discussion will serve as a starting point for additional future conversations related to criminal justice reform and environmental justice.
Join us for dinner for $10 at 5:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall at Frazer UMC 6000 Atlanta Highway Montgomery, AL.
The presentation will begin around 6:00 pm in Wesley Hall. There will be time for questions and answers. If you are unable to attend, please join us for the Live Stream of the event. More details on how to join the conversation closer to the time.
