General Qualifications: The individual must be of good moral character, reliable, trustworthy in all respects and have a passion for making the audio systems perform their best. They should possess knowledge of various types of sound systems used in a church environment and have an understanding of audio electronics and system designs, able to troubleshoot, and be well versed in audio gear to include mixers, amps, effects, speakers, wiring, computer interfaces and software related to recording/capturing. Able to edit and deliver those files in a timely manner to the Communications Coordinator. Must be able to relate positively with others and have good communication skills to train and coach sound system users and volunteers. Areas of Work: Sanctuary Family Life Center Chapel Fellowship Hall The Technical Director would work with the Director of Music Ministries for the Sanctuary system, the Contemporary Worship Music Leader and the Family Life Center Director for the Family Life Center system, appropriate personnel for the Chapel and Fellowship Hall. Funds required for any purchases or repairs would be requested and approved by the appropriate committee or personnel. Responsibilities: Work with music department leaders and groups for both regular church services and special events. Audio equipment installation, setup, operation and maintenance, and repair will be the main purpose of this position. Create and maintain an “AS Built” manual for each system. Recommend annual budget needs to appropriate personnel and the Senior Pastor. Legal requirements under the ADA (American with Disabilities Act) will also be monitored and tested as required by law. Also follow laws of the United States and the State of Alabama regarding copyright laws and use of wireless devices. The Technical Director could be available but NOT required to operate the sound system for events outside of normal church services such as retreats, weddings, and funerals. If unavailable for the event, find a qualified replacement. Payment for hours of services rendered in those cases would be on a fee basis established by the church office and would be paid directly by the person in charge of the event.
