The Youth Director will be a committed Christian seeking continued growth and depth in a personal relationship with Christ. The Director’s purpose is to recruit, equip, prepare, support, and encourage students (6th through 12th grades). Job Description Build relationships with students and parents in this ministry and be available to visit, share, pray, or talk as needed Teach Biblical principles, Christian values, United Methodist Church history and United Methodist theology and doctrine Constantly seek opportunities for new students to be introduced to this ministry Recruit, train, and effectively work with youth volunteers. Develop a guide team to share the vision and strategy regularly with all volunteers, counselors, and coordinators Supervise curriculum for all areas of ministry including, but not limited to Sunday School, small group discipleship, Sunday, and Wednesday night youth group Supervise, disciple, and train students for Christian growth, including student leadership teams, drama ministry, worship team, mission opportunities, etc. Be available to youth in a variety of ways (weekly lunch at schools, attendance at extracurricular activities, visitations, times of crisis, etc.) Teach or coordinate teachers for Sunday School and Confirmation classes Follow up with first time and frequent visitors to encourage movement from visitor to member to disciple of Christ Plan and implement annual events; including but not limited to mid-high trip, Inner-City Mission week, high school mission trip, Children’s Christmas ministry, Youth Banquet Meet with other area United Methodist youth directors and execute mutually beneficial programs as led by God Keep records of youth attendance, follow-up as necessary to minimize “drop-outs,” and manage youth ministry budget Maintain the Student Ministry website and the social media page Develop and deploy multiple layers of communications to students and parents to keep them informed of current and upcoming events Attend weekly staff meetings, Church Council, and other committee meetings as needed Other duties as assigned Establish Annual ministry goals – including visits, new contacts, “Connection events” etc. Organization Description Fort Walton Beach First UMC: Prayerfully making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world by Connecting with people, Teaching God’s word, and Living our faith through service.
