2023-2024 Changes in Application Process for Full and Provisional Connection
The Board of Ordained Ministry (BOM) has approved several changes in the Commissioning and Ordination Application Process. The packets will now be made available online on March 1st of each year. These packets will now be due on September 14th of each year and the BOM will conduct interviews in the late fall for Provisional membership and the early winter for Full Connection membership of each year. This moves the release date and deadline up a month and a half.
Those candidates applying for Provisional membership (Commissioning) in our Annual Conference will be invited to declare their intent to apply to the Office of Ministerial Services by May 15. They will then be invited to participate in a Provisional Applicant Mentoring Process. While this process is optional, the experience of meeting with Board members to discuss process with them and other provisional candidates is strongly recommended. This will consist of monthly Zoom meetings in June, July and August with other applicants and members of the BOM. Our goal is to provide more BOM support for those applicants and create some relationships prior to interviews.
