The Alabama-West Florida Conference Board of Pension and Health Benefits encourages everyone to be a part of the annual health screening at the 2010 Annual Conference session. Our goal is to become a healthier conference by becoming more proactive in regard to our health. The screening will be held Monday and Tuesday (June 7 & 8) from 6:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. in the Cokesbury Room at Frazer UMC. The health screening is FREE for all currently enrolled AWF Conference health plan participants. For an accurate screening, remember to FAST prior to the screening. Please take a moment to come by - it pays to take care of your health.

A new opportunity is available for those attending the 2010 Alabama-West Florida Annual Conference. In addition to the Experiential Prayer Room, we will have the opportunity of praying with and for people around the United States who call in to the 24-hour Upper Room Living Prayer Center with their prayer needs. Clergy and lay volunteers from within the AWF Conference will answer the prayer telephone line from a call center at Frazer UMC during the Annual Conference session. Call hours for our location will be 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday (June 7 & 8) of Annual Conference. This is a wonderful opportunity for our annual conference to participate in this vital ministry. Volunteers are needed to answer the prayer line for 30 MINUTE SHIFTS. Someone will be in the prayer line ministry room to give instruction before your time slot starts (so please arrive a few moments early). Please prayerfully consider serving in this significant ministry and indicate the time you will serve on the form below. Please give your name and email address so that we can confirm your participation. REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.

Bring your UMCOR supply kits to Annual Conference this year!
UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) has received plenty of health kits in response to the Haiti earthquake in January. This has been a fantastic outpouring of support from many United Methodist churches throughout the connection, including the Alabama-West Florida Annual Conference. Now UMCOR is asking for other types of kits that will be used in Haiti and other countries – specifically layette kits and birthing kits. This year at annual conference, we will make it easy for your church to respond to this latest request. Just assemble layette kits and birthing kits, as well as school kits, and your clergy and lay delegates can deliver them to the truck in Frazer’s parking lot during annual conference. Coleman American Moving Services has graciously offered to deliver these kits to the Sager Brown Depot in Baldwin, Louisiana. Any other types of supply kits are welcome, but the layette and birthing kits are in the greatest demand for UMCOR. This is a great opportunity for Sunday school classes, UMW and UMM groups, youth groups, individuals and your whole church to continue to respond to the Haiti disaster. To find out how to pack these kits, please click here. Please carefully follow the instructions as listed for each kit. Click here for an informative flyer.
