Reverend Charles Webb McGlothren, 92, of Enterprise, AL passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2012.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church of Enterprise with Rev. Sam Williams, Warren Hollis, Billy Mills, and Rev. Shawn Rezek officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at the funeral home. Rev. McGlothren will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time. Memorial contributions may be made to the church of your choice.

Known by his friends and family as “Charlie Mac”, Charles grew up in the town of Chamuckla, Florida. After joining the US Army and serving for three years, he met his wife, Gladys and settled in Enterprise, AL. Charles was a charter member and the longest serving president of IAM & AW Local Lodge #2003 of Daleville, AL (AFL-CIO). He also served as president of the Alabama State Council of Machinist for two years.

Charles was an active member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church of Enterprise. He served as lay leader, Sunday School teacher and as the chairman of the finance and building committees, Pastor Parish Relations, Board of Trustees, and of the administrative board. At the age of 62, Charles was called into the ministry and served as a minister for Coffee Springs, Center Ridge, Black, Oak Grove and Wesley Chapel of Hartford United Methodist Churches. Upon retiring, he returned to his home church, Wesley Chapel United Methodist of Enterprise to serve as the associate pastor.

Aside from his faithful service to the Lord, he is best known for his signature barbeque sauce. Whether planning barbecues for church events or preparing meals for his friends and family, Charlie Mac could always be found cooking to show his love for those who meant the most to him.

Known as Charles, Charlie Mac, Papa Mac, Uncle Charles, and Uncle Webb, he instilled morals and standards and countless fond memories that will be treasured deep within the hearts of his family and friends.

Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Williams McGlothren; grandson, Christopher Wayne Whittaker; and several nephews and nieces.

Survivors include his wife, Laddie Farris McGlothren, Enterprise, AL; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles W. (Chuck) and Susan McGlothren; Wayne and Lois Whittaker, all of Enterprise, AL; one daughter and son-in-law, Jane (Whittaker) and Lewis Elmore, Panama City Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Phillip and Christa Gamble, Dothan, AL; Jeffrey and Melanie Campbell, Forney, TX; three great-grandchildren, Lawson and Sarah Cate Gamble and Adrianna Whittaker. Surviving stepchildren are Ralph “Butch” Farris and Kenneth “Ken” and Cathy Farris, Enterprise, AL; Jerry and Linda Gilbert, New Brockton, AL.
