Micheal Ard, Bay Pines District Lay Leader

I am married to Chris Ard, and we have 3 children. Maddy (16), Morgan (14), and John Farish (11). Chris works as a project manager at Gate Precast, and my children attend Monroe County Public schools where they are active in a variety of academic and extracurricular activities.
Education and Work
I graduated from Monroe County High School (1992) and the University of Alabama (1996). I have been a teacher at Monroe County High School for 17 years, and I currently teach AP US History and Government & Economics. I also have the pleasure of sponsoring National Honor Society.
Church Involvement:
I am actively involved in my local church (First United Methodist Church of Monroeville). It is a joy to be a part of this community of faith. For the past 17 years, I have worked with our youth as a youth counselor and Sunday School teacher. I have served as a Lay Delegate to Annual Conference since 2007. I also have the pleasure of making a joyful noise each week as part of our Handbell choir. I am excited to serve as a co-Dean to a Jr. High Camp (24:7) at Blue Lake each summer with Rev. Pam Barnhardt. It is always a week filled with fun and spiritual growth. I recently participated in Emmaus Walk #224 at Blue Lake and was richly blessed by the experience and look forward to my continued involvement with the Emmaus community.
Community Involvement:
I have served as a Girl Scout leader since 2004. I am also part of the HIPPY (Home Instruction of Parents or Preschool Youngsters) Board of Monroe County. I have served as PTO President and volunteer with the Monroe County Heritage Museum.
