If you are able to participate, I would ask you to prepare for our gathering by reading Effectiveness By the Numbers, “Counting what Counts in the Church,” by William R. Hoyt.  The premise of this book is that the true mission of your local church is what you measure; a reflection of where your heart is focused.

Second, I hope we can spend a few minutes on capturing a “snapshot” of the current picture of the Alabama-West Florida Conference and invite conversation about how we broaden our ability to include more women, clergy who are newer to our conference, and women with spiritual gifts to share in the leadership of our conference.  In other words, how do we encourage new leaders, which is the same issue we often address within our local church.

Finally, I simply want to spend some fun time, in genuine fellowship, as we continue to deepen our friendships and encourage one another in mutual ministry on behalf of the Church.  If we can gather for encouragement, reflect on the nature of our annual conference, and think about what truly counts in the ministry of the church, it will be a productive day.  I hope you can make it.
