SLI 2009 will take place July 6-10, 2009 at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama
Student Leadership Institute provides the opportunity for you to send senior high leaders from your youth group to Huntingdon College for a week of intensive leadership training and networking with other young leaders from around the Alabama-West Florida Conference. During the week they will have the chance to hear from former Lieutenant Governor/Trial Attorney Jere Beasley, CFO of Baptist Hospital Katrina Keefer Belt, Circuit Judge Frank "Trippy" Morris, and they will also have the chance to spend the day with Christian recording artist Jimmy Needham.
Worship services in both the morning and evenings will be led by Brad Miles (Tulsa, OK) and Trey Carey (Nashville, TN).The chaplain and spiritual guide for the week will be Rev. Rurel Ausley who is the senior pastor at FUMC in Niceville, Florida.
During the week there will be lots of time to gather in small groups to discuss and dig deeper into the things that they are learning. Among the other activities planned for the week are trips to the Civil Rights Memorial in downtown Montgomery, a visit to the Rosa Parks Museum, and service projects serving Common Ground ministries and others in the Montgomery area. There is also plenty of fun to be had at SLI. During the week we will go bowling, to a Montgomery Biscuits baseball game, play broom hockey, and enjoy the giant waterslide on "the green" at historic Huntingdon College.
