Join us as we learn about strategies and tools to harness the potential gift that technology promises in an environment of stewardship and safety. “I think it’s important for churches to consider a presence in cyberspace because that is where the people are,” says O’Briant. O’Briant cited U.S. statistics that 143 million people use the Internet and that two-thirds of Internet users have searched for spiritual topics online.

Cyber safety needs to be a part of every church’s Safe Sanctuary planning and implementation.

In 1996, the General Conference of The United Methodist Church passed a resolution calling on every church to develop policies and procedures to reduce the risk of child sexual abuse in its ministries and facilities. We invite you send representatives (pastors, child/youth/adult/older adult workers, staff, church administrators, nursery workers, web site team, communications leaders, etc.) from your church who can then return and train your local church on Safe Sanctuary procedures.

You’ll return to your church able to create policies, goals, and action plans related to the safe use
of technology.
