5/20/2013 - Full Time Director of Youth Ministries - East Lake United Methodist Church (Palm Harbor, FL)

East Lake United Methodist Church, a Christ-centered congregation, worshipping 350 weekly in Palm Harbor, Florida, is looking for an energetic and creative full-time Director of Youth Ministries.

The youth ministry program of 40 active youth serves young people from sixth grade through the transition to college.

The Director of Youth Ministry will be responsible for a comprehensive ministry that includes fostering discipleship, empowering laity, and partnering with parents in the spiritual development of youth. The DYM will also exercise strong, healthy communication with staff and laity, ensure that all details of the youth program and special events are take care of, and empower adults to be involved in youth’s lives – establishing relationships and shepherding them and helping them develop their own relationship with Jesus Christ.

Successful candidates must have a college degree and three years experience as well as a strong personal faith consistent with the United Methodist tradition.

5/3/2013 - Director of Youth Ministries - Ft. Walton Beach FUMC

First United Methodist Church in Fort Walton Beach, Florida is looking for a full time Director of Youth Ministries who is able to equip, prepare, support, and encourage students (6th through 12th grades) to live out their faith in Jesus Christ.  The Director will be a committed Christian seeking continued growth and depth in their personal relationship with Christ.

Responsibilities include the ability to plan, grow, coordinate and manage a dynamic mission driven youth ministry within the parameters of the United Methodist Church.   The ideal candidate must be familiar with United Methodist theology and doctrine.  The Director must be a team player that can work well in cooperation with the Programs Director, Senior Pastor, other pastoral staff and adult volunteers.

An undergraduate degree and/or theological training are desired.  At least three years’ experience in youth leadership is a plus.  This person needs to be very creative, enthusiastic, have an energetic stage presence, effective at leading large groups and possess a contagious faith in Christ.

Salary range from $27,500.00 to $32,500.00, depending on experience.  Salary includes up to a $2,400.00 per year stipend for health insurance, if needed.

5/1/2013 - Assistant Accompanist - Prattville FUMC

First United Methodist Church in Prattville is seeking an Assistant Accompanist.

The basic responsibilities are as follows:

  • Prepare traditional service music, including congregational singing, choral anthem, and liturgical music
  • Prepare for and attend Chancel Choir rehearsals
  • Provide Musical leadership for funerals as well as weddings
  • Prepare for and attend additional ensemble rehearsals, such as the church orchestra, jazz band, and small choral ensembles

The audition will take the form of a two part process. Part one will include a performance audition. The applicant(s) will be asked to prepare a piece relevant for worship at First UMC and representative of the repertoire for piano and/or organ. Additionally, at the time of the audition the applicant will be given music to sight-read, to test the applicant’s ability to read music without time for preparation. Part two of the process will be an interview in which the audition committee will ask questions relevant to the position of Assistant Accompanist. The interview should last 30-45 minutes.

The annual salary is $12,068 + intermittent compensation for weddings and funerals, as well as the opportunity to teach piano students, if desired.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
 
•         Facilitate all Children’s programs and events including Children’s Sunday School, Baby Connection, Wednesday Discipleship Program, Easter Egg Hunt, Fall Festival and Vacation Bible School
•         Manage Nursery Staff and Volunteers
•         Create new and innovative ways to invite and include prospective members
•         Communicate with parents via email, webpage, phone calls, publications, personal contact, etc.; counsel with parents / children as needed
•         Recruit, train, mentor, and provide resources to Children’s Ministry teachers and small group leaders
