A Message From our AWF Lay Leader

It's hard to believe that we are at the end of the year 2011 and 2012 is upon us. That's why my thoughts have turned towards our time and how we use it. So my thoughts about time below are geared to have you think about the upcoming year. Our "QUOTES" section is a compilation of quotes that include the word TIME, some serious and some lighthearted. However, even the lighthearted ones will hopefully make you think about the value of our precious time.

Rev. Neil McDavid is the author of our featured article this month on Vital Congregations. As we seek to revitalize our churches, Neil shows us a model and way we can move forward. Please take the time to follow the link to the Web site and see what you can do as a lay person to revitalize your church.

Installment two of "Methodist Moments" by Rod Manning will help you understand how we came to be called Methodists.

We have a couple of laity who have been in the news lately. Did you know that the gentleman who helped invent the automobile airbag is a United Methodist lay speaker in our conference? See the recent article in the Mobile Press-Register. For a different perspective read John Ed Mathison's article on the same person. We also have a lay person in our conference who has served as the chairman of the board for the Foundation for Evangelism for several years.
